Mariana Webb

Welcome!

I am a hydrologist who studies risk and resilience to extreme events, with a focus on floods. My current research as a Ph.D. student at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada is focused on flooding caused by atmospheric rivers. I use large climatic, hydrologic, and socioeconomic data sets to statistically characterize flooding patterns and impacts in the western U.S. and central Chile. I want to better understand the hydrologic conditions that enhance flooding, how flood risk is communicated, and the socioeconomic impacts of extreme events. In my free time, you can find me running, gardening, or playing pick-up volleyball at the local park.Â
